position or "STOWED" position. Note that the chains are actually

Beautifully etched details that make this a working
model unlike any others. The foundation posts are solid square brass rod,
giving the structure a low center of gravity and plenty of heft. The gates
on the chutes will actually rotate to "open" & "closed"
position by moving the lever. The chute extensions fold up out of the way
when pulled by the realistic looking gun-metal chains. The sheaves use slippery
beads as bearings so that the chains never bind up. The steps are by far
the most exciting achievement for this design: Each step is easily rotated
to a level position by using tweezers and each stairway-set is logically
mounted with the assistance of slots, brackets & tabs. A design for
successful model railroading!
